Family and Children's Index (FCI)

The Family and Children’s Index is a secure, interagency data information system designed to support the well-being of children and families who may be at risk for abuse or neglect. This system compiles and organizes key data related to vulnerable families, offering a centralized platform to enhance collaboration and early intervention efforts across multiple service providers.

By enabling the controlled exchange of critical information, the Index empowers authorized professionals from participating agencies—such as social services, healthcare providers, and educational institutions—to share relevant insights regarding the children and families they serve. This collaborative approach ensures that all involved parties have access to a more comprehensive understanding of a family's circumstances, needs, and the services they are currently receiving or may require.

The ultimate goal of the Family and Children’s Index is to promote child safety and family stability by improving communication, reducing duplication of services, and enabling more informed, timely decisions. With privacy safeguards and strict access controls in place, the system strikes a balance between protecting sensitive information and facilitating meaningful coordination among trusted professionals.
